Social Grocery
We provide food, hygiene products and other essentials to families supported by our social grocery service.
Based in Málaga, we support people and families facing hardship through food assistance, social support and community programmes.
At ASAEC, we believe solidarity means not only helping, but also standing alongside others.
The Asociación Solidaridad Asistencial en Compañía (ASAEC) is a non-profit organisation working to improve the lives of people and families facing vulnerability or social exclusion.
Since our beginnings in Málaga, our aim has been clear: to offer support, companionship and opportunities to those who need them most, recognising the people and stories behind every difficult situation.
Over the years, we have developed social programmes responding to local needs and worked alongside public authorities, community organisations, businesses and volunteers.
Our work goes far beyond food aid. Through our social grocery services, community kitchen, food distribution, support for people without housing, family assistance, employment guidance and community activities, we provide practical responses to everyday difficulties.
Our work focuses especially on the Málaga districts of Cruz de Humilladero, Bailén-Miraflores and Teatinos, while responding to other social needs in the area.
We believe in solidarity based on closeness, respect, dignity and commitment. Our work is not only about immediate needs, but also about supporting people towards greater independence and social inclusion.

Since 2021, ASAEC has taken part in a programme distributing fresh fruit and vegetables free of charge. We receive, store and distribute produce both directly to families using our social grocery and to other organisations supporting their own beneficiaries.
This programme is separate from the former FEGA non-perishable food distribution scheme, in which ASAEC no longer participates.

Our social grocery has also welcomed corporate volunteer days with CaixaBank to help organise products. These photographs document specific events, not an ongoing partnership. Volunteers from Soy Senderista de Málaga, led by Inmaculada Bocanegra Pérez, have also helped prepare vegetables in our community kitchen.
